Google Cloud Development

WAYF is a Google Cloud Development Agency:
Enterprise Cloud. Google Scale.

Enterprise cloud without enterprise complexity.

Google Cloud is how we deploy applications that need to scale globally — the same infrastructure that runs Google Search, YouTube, and Gmail, available for your product. World-class networking, managed services that actually work, and pricing that makes sense once you understand it.

What We Build

Production infrastructure for applications that need to grow. Kubernetes clusters on GKE for teams that need container orchestration without the ops burden. Cloud Run for serverless containers that scale to zero and back. Cloud Functions for event-driven workloads. BigQuery pipelines for analytics that would choke traditional databases.

We've deployed to Google Cloud for startups where simplicity mattered and for enterprises where compliance and global presence were requirements. We've migrated workloads from AWS when GCP's networking or data tools were the better fit. We've built hybrid setups where some services run on Google Cloud while others stay elsewhere.

What we deploy less of: projects where a simpler platform would suffice. If you're running a single application with predictable traffic, Hetzner or Digital Ocean might serve you better at a fraction of the cost. We'll tell you when Google Cloud is overkill.

Why Us

Cloud is a Means to an End

We're a development agency that deploys infrastructure, not a cloud consultancy that sends architects. Our engineers build applications and deploy them — same team, same context, no handoffs.

GCP Depth Where it Matters

We know GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and the services that most applications actually need. We're not certified in everything Google offers; we're experienced in what works for production software.

Seniority as Default

Our engineers average 8+ years in software. They've deployed to GCP, AWS, and Azure. They know where Google Cloud excels — networking, Kubernetes, data analytics — and where other providers might fit better.

Multi-Cloud Perspective

We're not GCP-exclusive. That means we recommend it when it's right, not because it's all we know. If AWS or Azure serves your needs better, we'll say so.

How We Work

We integrate with your team or operate independently. Your existing infrastructure, your compliance requirements, your preferences — we adapt.

Most engagements start with understanding what you're running and where it needs to go. For Google Cloud projects specifically, we think through compute strategy (GKE vs. Cloud Run vs. Compute Engine), data requirements (Cloud SQL vs. Spanner vs. AlloyDB), and networking (VPCs, load balancing, Cloud CDN). These decisions shape cost and complexity for years.

We push back on overprovisioning. Google Cloud makes it easy to spin up enterprise-grade infrastructure. That doesn't mean you need it on day one. We start with what you need now and architect for what you'll need later — without paying for later today.

Infrastructure as code, always. Terraform for provisioning. Everything version-controlled, reviewable, reproducible. No clicking through the console and hoping someone remembers what changed.

What We See Go Wrong

The most common pattern: teams pick Google Cloud because "it's what Google uses" without understanding what that means for their workload. GCP's strengths are specific — Kubernetes, networking, data analytics. If you're not using those, you might be paying for capabilities you don't need.

We also see GKE deployed when Cloud Run would suffice. Kubernetes is powerful but complex. Teams spin up clusters for applications that would run fine as serverless containers, then spend months learning Kubernetes instead of shipping features.

Another pattern: ignoring networking until it's a problem. Google Cloud's networking is excellent — but VPCs, firewall rules, and load balancers need configuration. Teams that skip this work end up with security holes or performance problems that are expensive to fix later.

Cost surprises happen too. GCP pricing is competitive but not simple. Egress costs, sustained use discounts, committed use contracts — teams that don't monitor spend discover problems when the invoice arrives. We set up billing alerts and cost visibility from day one.

We're not here to judge how you got here. We assess what exists and figure out what makes sense going forward.

Technical Approach

Compute Strategy Depends on Your Workload

GKE for containerized applications that need orchestration. Cloud Run for containers that should scale automatically without cluster management. Compute Engine when you need VMs. Cloud Functions for event-driven glue. We pick based on your requirements, not our preferences.

GKE Done Right

If you need Kubernetes, GKE is the best managed option available. We configure clusters properly — node pools, autoscaling, workload identity, network policies. Kubernetes has a thousand knobs; we set the ones that matter and leave the rest alone.

Cloud Run for Simplicity

Containers that scale to zero, pay only for what you use, no cluster to manage. For many applications, this is the right answer. We reach for GKE when Cloud Run's limitations matter, not before.

Managed Databases by Default

Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL and MySQL. AlloyDB when you need PostgreSQL at scale. Spanner when you need global consistency. Firestore for document data. We pick the database that fits your access patterns, not the one that sounds most impressive.

BigQuery for Analytics

If you're doing data analysis, BigQuery changes what's possible. Petabyte-scale queries in seconds, serverless, pay-per-query. We've built analytics pipelines that would be impossible on traditional databases.

Networking as Foundation

VPCs configured properly, firewall rules that make sense, Cloud Load Balancing for global distribution, Cloud CDN for static assets. Google's network is a competitive advantage — but only if you use it correctly.

Security from the Start

IAM policies with least privilege. Workload Identity for GKE. Secret Manager for credentials. Security Command Center for visibility. We configure security properly from day one because retrofitting it is painful.

Who We Work Well With

Clients who need infrastructure that scales globally — where Google's network and managed services provide real advantages.

Also: clients already on GCP who need help making better use of it. Clusters that are overprovisioned. Services that should be serverless. Costs that are higher than they should be. We optimize what exists.

What both types have in common: direct communication, realistic expectations about cloud complexity, and treating our team as partners.

Who We're Not For

If you're running simple workloads and cost is the primary concern — Hetzner or Digital Ocean will serve you better at a fraction of the price. Google Cloud's value shows at scale and complexity.

If you need deep GCP specialization across every service — a dedicated cloud consultancy will go broader than we do. We know the services that matter for application deployment, not the entire GCP catalog.

If your organization mandates AWS or Azure — we work with those too. We're not GCP partisans; we're pragmatists who use what fits.
